Communication is key.

For those of you who know my business personally you know we do dog walking, sitting and training. With every single one of these, proper communication between us and the owners is extremely important.

For us as pet professionals the pets welfare is paramount, so it is extremely important we know everything. From habits, to allergies to behavioural quirks, we need to know everything to make sure we care for the pet in the appropriate way.

Between the team that works for me, we have a few animals ourselves so its important we know if clients dogs are ever ill so we don't risk passing anything on to our own animals or even other clients pets. We aren't vets, so that small cough that you think your dog has could be kennel cough that then ends up getting passed around alot of animals. If you have a pet that is ill it not only means that we have to wash and disinfect our hands when we leave them, but it also means we have to change our clothes to ensure no germs are passed on.

If your dog is reactive or a bite risk we need to know this all in detail, this doesn't mean we wont work with them but it allows us to work with them in the safest manner possible. To ensure your pet is kept comfortable while in our care.

While sitting in clients homes it is important that we know if you have a cleaner or a gardener, or someone who will also come in to check the animals. This is key. If someone comes in to feed your animals and feeds them something they are allergic too but we don't know someone has been in then we cant get them the correct care as we don't know what is going on.

With sits its important we know if there are cameras in the house to ensure we aren't walking around in towels or our underwear!

For training honesty and transparency is absolute paramount! We need to know every tiny little detail so we can make a training plan that works best for you and your dog. If you say your dog is human reactive when in reality they're a level 4 bite risk then this could pose some serious issues.

Honesty and communication is key to ensure we are the right fit for your pets care, because if we aren't we want to ensure we find you the right help.
