Service Description

This one day crash course will prepare you on how to face accident or injury should it occur with a dog under your care. Giving you vital first aid knowledge you can perform before getting your pet to the vet This day course will leave you with new knowledge and a certificate to prove it! Snacks and a goodie bag will be provided! Topics covered include; What a Dog First Aiders Role is – what we can and can't do. First Aid equipment Dog Assessment – foundations, examination Vital signs – normal parameters and how to check Canine CPR – including hands on practice using the dummy dogs Seizures - how to respond Cuts and bleeds – including practical pressure bandaging techniques and a chance for everyone to practice on the dummies GDV (bloat) - risk factors and symptoms Recognising the signs of shock and what to do First aid for burns and scalds Toxicity (poisoning) – symptoms, common poisons Heat stroke – risk factors, prevention, early signs and first aid actions Choking – first aid actions On successful completion, course attendees receive their certificate in Emergency Canine Care, which lasts for 3 years. There is also an opportunity for people to purchase first aid kits and supplies on the day.

Any cancellations made via the website or by messenger less than 24 hours of the session date, you will lose your booking fee. We are unable to fill spaces last minute.
